The Road to the O2

Thousands of unsigned acts have been eagerly awaiting its return, and now the wait is over… auditions across the country for Live and Unsigned 2010 are about to begin! And the winning act will not only take away a recording and management contract, they will also get to play on the main stage of the Live and Unsigned Festival at the 02 in London!

Live and Unsigned is the biggest music competition in the UK for original bands and artists, with over 30,000 acts gracing the audition rooms in the last three years. The competition has found some groundbreaking new acts including Kiddo 360 who went on to pick up a Vodafone Unsigned Award and 2007’s Bkay and Kazz who broke into the UK top 30 chart.

The competition promotes and supports unsigned original talent from all over the country and its popularity keeps on growing. Every year the competition travels across the UK with live auditions – all acts are auditioned live in front of a judging panel and there are no demos or submissions.

After the initial audition stage, the successful acts are then chosen to perform at the Regional Finals in front of a live audience, industry guests and celebrity judges. The competition has been endorsed by former Sex Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren and Radio 1’s Annie Nightingale, who both look set to return in 2010. Radio 1’s unsigned expert Huw Stephens and performer Just Jack also look set to join next years judging panel.

There are plenty of opportunities for acts during their Live and Unsigned experience, including lots of prizes up for grabs courtesy of sponsors Marshall, Extreme, Muzu and ICMP. Those who make it through to the Grand Final will get to share the stage with some of the UK’s best musicians at the Live and Unsigned Festival.

The competition prides itself on visiting the most prestigious venue’s in the UK, from the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and Portsmouth Guildhall to Sheffield City Hall and the Ipswich Corn Exchange - and the Festival is no exception! The 02 is recognised as the most prestigious venue in the UK for bands and artists to perform live and will boast an impressive line up at the Live and Unsigned Festival. The venue has seen some of the world’s successful musicians and acts take to the stage, including U2, Take That and Muse - and in 2010 it could be you!

The entire aim of Live and Unsigned is to promote and discover the UK’s best original and unsigned act – with the winner taking home a management and recording contract to release their single.

Auditions begin in January 2010. Acts are now being urged to enter as places are in high demand and auditions are limited. For information on how to secure your live audition for 2010 go to www.LiveandUnsigned.uk.com and register today!
