Scouting for Girls

Scouting For Girls has announced a woodland date for this summer. The show is the sixth and final concert to be announced as part of the Forestry Commission Live Music programme taking place in the region at Thetford Forest, Suffolk.

 Fronted by the exuberant showman Roy Stride, Scouting For Girls eponymous No 1 debut album generated a clutch of infectious hits including ‘She’s So Lovely’, ‘Heartbeat’, ‘It’s Not About You’ and ‘Elvis Ain’t Dead’, all becoming regular fixtures on radio playlists across the country. This Easter the band hit the top spot in the singles chart with ‘This Ain’t A Love Song’ from their latest album ‘Everybody Wants To Be On TV’, released this month and promising more insatiably irresistible pop anthems.

 Forestry Commission Live Music introduces some music fans to a woodland environment for the first time. Many of them come back to enjoy the beautiful surroundings for healthy and fun outdoor recreation including walking, mountain biking and watching wildlife.

The Saturdays

The Saturdays have announced a forest gig this summer in East Anglia as part
of 'Forestry Commission Live Music' - a series of concerts by an eclectic
mix of acts in spectacular woodland locations around the country.

In less than two years, a combination of nifty, killer tunes, super-tight
performances and pure, hard graft has taken The Saturdays: Frankie, Mollie,
Rochelle, Una and Vanessa from bright-eyed pop ingénues to permanent
fixtures on the UK charts. Hit singles 'Forever Is Over and 'Ego' from their
latest album 'Wordshaker' follow fast on the heels of classics like 'Up,
'Issues', 'If This Is Love' and 'Work' from their platinum debut album
'Chasing Lights'.

Commenting on the date for The Saturdays, Mollie King said 'We've never
played a gig in a forest before - I feel like Maid Marian.  It sounds like
fun and we are really looking forward to it, I'll keep an eye out for Robin
Hood!"

Katie Melua

Katie Melua has announced an East Anglian date for the summer as part of
Forestry Commission Live Music.

With nearly 10 million combined sales generated from her first 3 albums,
'Call Off The Search', 'Piece By Piece' and 'Pictures' Katie was, without
doubt, one of the greatest musical success stories of the last decade.

Now, having spent 2009 writing songs for her 4th studio album including
teaming up with song-writing partner Guy Chambers (perhaps best known for
Robbie Williams' 'Angels' and 'Millennium'), Katie is currently in the
studio finishing the record with producer William Orbit who produced
Madonna's award-winning album 'Ray Of light'. Orbit has been running a
commentary of the studio sessions on Twitter and Facebook including "this is
shaping up to be one of the finest things I've ever been involved with. I am
hearing what can only be described as magic". The as-yet-untitled album will
be released in May.

KEANE

Keane has announced a tour of spectacular woodland locations next summer as
part of the Forestry Commission Live Music series.

Keane have had three consecutive Number One albums "Hopes and Fears" (2004),
"Under The Iron Sea" (2006) and "Perfect Symmetry" (2008), garnering Brits,
Grammy's and Ivor Novello Awards.  Their collection of hits including
'Everybody's Changing', 'Is It Any Wonder?', 'Crystal Ball', 'Somewhere Only
We Know' and 'Spiralling', has secured Keane's place as one of Britain's
best-loved bands. As well as selling an impressive ten million albums the
band's live reputation is marked by their huge sold out Arena tours and

Doves

Doves have announced an East Anglian date this summer as part of the Forestry Commission’s Live Music series of concerts in spectacular woodland locations around the country. 2009 saw the release of their long-awaited 4th album ‘Kingdom of Rust’, which entered the album charts at No 2. The band’s critically acclaimed debut album Lost Souls (2000) was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize and was followed up by their subsequent chart-topping albums ‘The Last Broadcast’ (2002) and ‘Some Cities’ (2005).

Commenting on the date, Doves’ Jimi Goodwin said, "It was great experience playing to a sold-out crowd at Delamere Forest last summer so we are pleased to announce another forest gig for 2010."

Simply Red

One of the most popular bands of the past 25 years, Simply Red, has announced a series of dates in spectacular woodland locations next summer as part of Forestry Commission Live Music.

Fronted by the unmistakable Mick Hucknall, a catalogue of hit singles like ‘Holding Back The Years’, ‘Something Got Me Started’, ‘If You Don’t Know Me By Now’, ‘For Your Babies’, ‘Fairground’, ‘Angel’, ‘Sunrise’ and ‘Ev’ry Time We Say Goodbye’ established Simply Red’s superstar status across the globe. Classic albums like ‘Picture Book’, ‘A New Flame’, ‘Stars’, ‘Blue’ and ‘Home’ formed part of the record collection for a whole generation.

Commenting on the concerts, Mick Hucknall for Simply Red said, “As we had such fun performing a solo forest show at Westonbirt Arboretum this year, we decided it would be great to play all the forest concert venues around the country in 2010. It is a fantastic experience for a band to play in these unique settings".
