COUNTDOWN TO ROCK

Local Rock Cover Band Morpheus have been given the opportunity to re record the theme to the popular word games show Countdown and their recording will be played on the show on January 14th 2010.

Andy Hewitt, drummer with Morpheus, will be a contestant on the show and along with his bandmates have recorded the theme tune to Countdown. Producers loved the revamped version that they have agreed to play the Morpheus version on the Show, and could  replace the original version longterm although nothing has been confirmed as yet!

Andy said " It's fantastic that our version of the show theme will be aired. It shows how versatile Morpheus can be as a band. It was fantastic to watch Presenter Jeff Stelling air  drumming along to it when it was played"

And how well did Andy do on the day?... "I can't comment...you'll have to wait and see!... I may have been slightly distracted by the lovely co host Rachel Riley"

Countdown with the Morpheus title theme featured in the show will be aired on  Thursday 14th January  2010 at 3.25pm on Channel 4

SPECIAL REQUEST FROM 'THE FLOE'

This is a message from David from The Floe (formerly AloneMe) who has a very special request...

"In the next few moments, without even leaving your chair, you could help save someone's life. Here's how...

Exactly a year ago, Sarah from the band gave her boyfriend Paul a special, once-in-a-lifetime gift. One of her kidneys! An unusual present, I know, but Paul would have died without it.

What Sarah did was extraordinary, and I don't expect everyone to do that right now, but every one of us can do our bit...

We have launched a campaign to raise awareness of the need for more people to consider organ donation and it is called 'I Hope You Know'. The name comes from the title of our first single as The Floe, which is released TODAY, 9th November. The release comes on the first anniversary of Paul's transplant, and all the money raised will be donated to The Transplant Trust.

Please do as I have done today:

* Visit www.ihopeyouknow.co.uk to:

* Download the 'I Hope You Know' single.

* Sign the NHS Organ Donor Register.

* then let as many people as possible know the 'I Hope You Know...' message.

And that's how you can save a life. Now. Simple! Thank you for your support."

FLAMING JUNE

Flaming June are a indie/folk/acoustic band based around Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk and they will be supporting 6 Day Riot (currently on tour with Seth Lakeman) at The Portland Arms in Cambridge on Tues 16th Feb 2010.

Then on Thursday March 18th 2010 they will be supporting Eliza Carthy at the Monto Water Rats, King Cross, London.

Singer song/writer Louise Hamilton formed the current acoustic line-up in April 2009 with Steve Calder on fiddle, Clare Calder on backing vocals and Dave Bacon on Cajon to enter a songwriters competition at The Masons Arms in Bury St Edmunds.  Through this and other open mic appearances the band have been asked to play both the Ely and Suffolk Folk Festivals in 2010 as well as the supports mentioned above.

Described as "catchy, addictive and also rather dark" Flaming June's music is a passionate and potent mix of heartfelt edgy lyrics, catchy choruses and folkyness. They played live on BBC radio suffolk in November and have recorded a session for Stephen Foster which should be broadcast soon.
