|
The biggest
selling artist of a decade, Shakin’ Stevens, celebrates 30 years since
his first UK hit, ‘Hot Dog’. As
part of the celebrations, he will be performing at festivals and
concerts throughout Europe, including Germany, Holland, Poland and
Denmark, also undertaking a UK tour.
Starting on 12th October at Buxton’s Opera House and
culminating at London’s Shepherds Bush Empire on the 24th
October – this is a show not to be missed ! Shaky will be
accompanied by a 10 strong band and will perform new arrangements
of his hits and songs he has performed across the decades, from
all the musical genres he has recorded with - rock, country and blues
– plus a few surprises! All this, alongside new songs, which will
appear on his new album slated for release later in the year, will
excite new and old fans alike. His
many hits include ‘Green Door’ (1), the self-penned ‘Oh Julie’
(1), ‘This Ole House’ (1) and ‘You Drive Me Crazy’ (2). In December
2009 Stevens released an ultimate collection box set.
The Epic Masters features unique mini vinyl style CDs, a 20 page colour booklet with sleeve notes
from the man himself. 10 albums, including 9 original hit albums each
with bonus tracks - 147 tracks, all digitally remastered - which sold
out its limited edition run within a week. Stevens
remains the UK’s 16th Highest Selling Artist in the history
of the charts! To quote from the Guinness Book of British Hit
Singles And Albums; “Shares with
The Beatles (60s) and Elton John (70s) the distinction of being the most
successful UK singles chart performer of a decade.”This
unprecedented success was mirrored across Europe and in many territories
world-wide, earning him a multitude of Gold, Platinum and Double
Platinum Discs, together with global honours and prestigious industry
awards. Shakin’
Stevens has a massive and loyal fanbase around the world. Famous fans
include Peter Kay (he appeared in his video for the No 1 hit
‘Amarillo’), Matt Lucas & David Walliams (who wanted Shaky to
appear in the first series of Little Britain’), John Simm,
Rob Brydon, Hannah Waterman, Natasha Kapinsky, Super Furry
